Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geoscientist to join our dynamic team in Cambridge, MA. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to diverse environmental, infrastructure, and energy projects. We are looking for a dedicated professional with a strong background in geological sciences, environmental remediation, and data analysis. The successful candidate will be instrumental in conducting site investigations, analyzing subsurface conditions, developing conceptual site models, and supporting project managers with technical expertise. This role is crucial for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients while navigating complex geological challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive geological and hydrogeological site investigations, including drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sampling, and geophysical surveys.
  • Analyze geological, hydrogeological, and environmental data to characterize subsurface conditions, identify contaminants, and assess risk.
  • Develop detailed conceptual site models and prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Perform calculations and modeling for groundwater flow, contaminant transport, and remedial system design.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental scientists, and project managers.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and health and safety protocols.
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geophysics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, geotechnical engineering, or a related geoscience field.
  • Demonstrated experience with site investigation techniques, data analysis, and technical report writing.
  • Proficiency in geological mapping, cross-section interpretation, and subsurface modeling software (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD, gINT, Groundwater Vistas, MODFLOW).
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, state-specific regulations).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex projects.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for fieldwork as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Geologist (PG) or equivalent certification.
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in a relevant geoscience discipline.
  • Experience with advanced geophysical methods and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with emerging contaminants and remediation technologies.
  • Prior experience supporting visa sponsorship processes.
  • Project management experience.
