Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Forensic Scientist to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This position offers visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying scientific principles and analytical techniques to examine physical evidence in a laboratory setting. This role is critical in contributing to public safety and justice through meticulous analysis and expert testimony. You will work with state-of-the-art equipment and collaborate with a diverse team of professionals dedicated to scientific excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough forensic analysis of various types of physical evidence, including biological samples, trace evidence, and controlled substances.
• Operate and maintain a variety of analytical instrumentation (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS, FTIR, DNA sequencers).
• Develop and validate new analytical methods and protocols.
• Interpret complex analytical data and draw accurate conclusions.
• Prepare comprehensive laboratory reports and technical documents.
• Provide expert testimony in court proceedings regarding forensic findings and methodologies.
• Adhere to strict quality assurance and quality control standards.
• Participate in proficiency testing and continuing education programs.
• Maintain accurate records and chain of custody for all evidence handled.

Required Skills

• Certifications from professional forensic organizations (e.g., ABC, ASCLD/LAB).
• Experience with expert witness testimony in court.
• Familiarity with ISO 17025 accreditation requirements.
• Experience in method development and validation.
