Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Foreign Service Specialist to join our Public Sector Consulting team in Manchester. This role involves advising governmental and non-governmental organisations on international policy, foreign relations, and global development initiatives. The successful candidate will leverage deep geopolitical understanding and analytical skills to provide strategic recommendations, conduct in-depth research, and facilitate cross-cultural communication to achieve client objectives in an international context.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and strategic guidance on international affairs, foreign policy, and global development to clients.
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on political, economic, and social trends impacting foreign relations.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for international engagement, diplomatic initiatives, and humanitarian aid projects.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between diverse stakeholders, including government officials, international organizations, and NGOs.
- Prepare detailed reports, briefings, and presentations on complex international issues for senior leadership and clients.
- Monitor global events and provide timely assessments of their potential impact on client strategies.
- Represent Deloitte in client meetings, workshops, and international conferences.
- Mentor junior consultants and contribute to thought leadership within the Public Sector practice.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in foreign service, international relations, diplomacy, or public sector consulting with a focus on international affairs.
- Proven ability to conduct rigorous research and analysis on complex geopolitical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Proficiency in at least one additional language (e.g., French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin).
- Demonstrated project management and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Experience working with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) or other international government bodies.
- Prior experience in a leading consulting firm advising public sector clients.
- Established network within international diplomatic or development communities.
- Proficiency in multiple foreign languages.
