Job Description
Deloitte is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Foreign Service Officer to join our Public Sector Consulting practice in Mississauga. In this unique role, you will leverage your expertise in international relations, policy analysis, and diplomatic strategy to advise government clients and international bodies on critical global issues. This position requires a deep understanding of geopolitical landscapes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to develop and implement strategies that support our clients’ foreign policy objectives and international development initiatives. You will work on projects that have a direct impact on global affairs, providing strategic guidance and thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on international political, economic, and social developments.
- Develop strategic recommendations and policy frameworks for government clients pertaining to foreign affairs and international development.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, briefs, and presentations for senior leadership and client stakeholders.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and international organizations, to foster collaboration and consensus.
- Lead and contribute to project teams, managing deliverables and timelines to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide expert advice on diplomatic protocols, cross-cultural communication, and international negotiation strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of foreign policy initiatives and development programs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in international relations, foreign policy, or public diplomacy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for critical thinking.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting policy documents and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with high-level government officials and diverse international partners.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or a related field.
- Fluency in a second official language (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin).
- Experience working directly with or for governmental foreign affairs departments or international organizations.
- Knowledge of Canadian foreign policy objectives and international development priorities.
