Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Firewall Engineer to join our global network security team in Gilbert, Arizona. This critical role involves the design, implementation, and management of advanced firewall solutions across our enterprise network. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with various firewall technologies, a deep understanding of network security principles, and a proactive approach to threat mitigation and system optimization. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain firewall policies and rules to ensure optimal security posture and network performance.
• Monitor network traffic for anomalies and security threats, responding promptly to incidents and performing root cause analysis.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and manage next-generation firewalls (NGFWs) from vendors such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco, or Check Point.
• Participate in the planning and execution of network security projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential weaknesses.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network security configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Collaborate with other IT teams (network, server, application) to ensure seamless integration and secure operation of services.
• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies to continuously improve our security defenses.
• Provide expert-level support and guidance for complex firewall-related issues.

Required Skills

• Proven experience as a Firewall Engineer or similar network security role.
• Expertise in configuring and managing firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/FTD, Check Point).
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and switching technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of network security concepts including VPN, IPS/IDS, URL filtering, application control, and DDoS mitigation.
• Experience with network diagnostic tools and monitoring systems.
• Proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Ansible) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications such as PCNSE, CCNP Security, Fortinet NSE 4+, CISSP, or CISM.
• Experience with cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS).
• Experience working in a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of SD-WAN and SASE architectures.
