Job Description

Battelle is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Federal Staff Scientist to join our dynamic team in Savannah, Georgia. In this critical role, you will contribute to various federal research projects, applying advanced scientific principles and methodologies to solve complex challenges. This position requires strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a rigorous scientific framework. You will be instrumental in developing experimental designs, conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing comprehensive reports for federal clients, ensuring adherence to project timelines and scientific integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute scientific experiments, studies, and investigations in accordance with project objectives and federal guidelines.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data using appropriate statistical and analytical tools.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and publications for internal stakeholders and federal sponsors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, other scientists, and project managers, to achieve project goals.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, quality assurance standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
• Contribute to the development of new research proposals and secure funding for future projects.
• Stay current with scientific literature and advancements relevant to assigned projects.

Required Skills

• Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Physics, Materials Science) or Master's with equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of post-doctoral or relevant professional experience in scientific research, preferably in a federal contracting environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific report writing.
• Proficiency with scientific software and analytical tools relevant to the field.
• Strong understanding of federal research regulations and compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (if required for specific projects).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with specific federal agencies (e.g., DoD, EPA, DoE, NIH).
• Proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific conferences.
• Experience in project management or leading small research teams.
• Active security clearance.
