Job Description

The Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals to serve as Federal Air Marshals. This is a critical law enforcement position involving the protection of air travelers and the national transportation infrastructure against terrorism and other high-threat criminal acts. Federal Air Marshals are an elite, highly trained group of federal law enforcement officers who operate in a unique environment, both domestically and internationally. This role requires exceptional judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to public service in high-stress, dynamic situations. You will be responsible for applying advanced law enforcement techniques and tactics, working independently and as part of a team, often in an undercover capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Detect, deter, and defeat hostile acts targeting U.S. air carriers, passengers, and crews.
• Travel extensively, often on short notice, both domestically and internationally.
• Maintain proficiency in advanced firearms, self-defense tactics, and law enforcement procedures.
• Conduct surveillance and intelligence gathering to identify potential threats.
• Collaborate with other federal, state, local, and international law enforcement agencies.
• Respond effectively to in-flight security incidents, including acts of terrorism and criminal activity.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to missions and incidents.
• Participate in ongoing training and evaluations to maintain peak performance and readiness.
• Adhere to strict operational security protocols and maintain a high level of discretion.

Required Skills

• U.S. Citizenship
• Must be between 21 and 37 years of age at the time of application (exceptions for veterans)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
• Successful completion of a rigorous medical examination, physical abilities test, and psychological evaluation
• Ability to make critical decisions under extreme pressure
• Excellent observational and analytical skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel extensively and on irregular schedules
• Basic computer proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Prior law enforcement, military, or security experience
• Experience in criminal investigation or intelligence analysis
• Fluency in a foreign language
• Experience working in a covert or undercover capacity
