Job Description
We are seeking a talented and innovative Fashion Designer to join our dynamic design team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fashion trends, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to translate creative concepts into commercial products. This role will involve working across various apparel categories, contributing to the development of exciting new collections that resonate with our diverse customer base. Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify emerging fashion trends, market demands, and competitor activities.
- Develop original design concepts, sketches, and technical drawings for apparel collections.
- Create detailed tech packs, including specifications for materials, colors, trims, and construction.
- Collaborate closely with merchandising, product development, and production teams to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.
- Participate in fitting sessions, providing clear feedback for garment revisions and improvements.
- Manage multiple projects from concept through to final production, meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
- Present design concepts and finished products to stakeholders, articulating design intent and market relevance.
- Stay updated on sustainable practices and innovative materials within the fashion industry.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Strong sketching and illustration skills, both hand-drawn and digital.
- Excellent understanding of garment construction, textiles, and fit.
- Ability to interpret trends and translate them into commercially viable designs.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with creating detailed tech packs and working with international factories.
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant fashion design work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- Experience designing for a large-scale retailer or a brand with a broad customer demographic.
- Knowledge of 3D design software (e.g., CLO3D, Browzwear).
- Experience in a specific apparel category relevant to Kohl's (e.g., activewear, casualwear, intimates).
