Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Farm Manager to oversee the agricultural operations supporting Cranswick’s integrated supply chain in the Leeds region. This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of farm production, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and product quality. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a deep understanding of modern farming practices, keen on optimising efficiency and sustainability. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily farm operations, including crop rotation, livestock management (where applicable), and machinery maintenance.
  • Develop and implement farm management plans to optimise yield, quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and animal welfare protocols.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and record-keeping for farm activities.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of farm workers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Monitor market trends, implement new technologies, and introduce best practices to enhance farm performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., procurement, quality assurance) to ensure seamless integration into the wider Cranswick supply chain.
  • Manage agricultural inputs, including feed, fertiliser, and pesticides, ensuring sustainable and responsible use.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on farm performance, productivity, and financial outcomes.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in farm management, preferably within a large-scale agricultural operation.
  • Strong knowledge of modern farming techniques, crop science, and/or livestock husbandry.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, financial records, and operational costs effectively.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in agricultural software and general IT applications.
  • A valid UK driving license or equivalent international license eligible for conversion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with sustainable farming practices and certifications (e.g., Red Tractor, organic standards).
  • Familiarity with UK agricultural policies and regulations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis for performance optimisation.
