Job Description

Perdue Farms is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm & Harvest Technician to join our agricultural team in Morgantown, West Virginia. This vital role is central to the efficient operation of our farming activities, focusing on crop cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting processes. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in agricultural operations, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and be eager to contribute to a sustainable food system. You will collaborate closely with farm management to ensure the timely and effective execution of daily tasks, directly contributing to the success of our harvest cycles and overall farm productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain various farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, harvesters, planters, and irrigation systems.
• Assist with planting, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting of crops according to established schedules and protocols.
• Monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and report findings accurately to supervisors.
• Perform general farm maintenance tasks, including fence repair, building upkeep, and field preparation.
• Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines, company policies, and agricultural best practices.
• Record daily activities, equipment usage, and crop data meticulously for reporting purposes.
• Participate in soil sampling and fertilization applications as directed by farm management.
• Assist with the loading, unloading, and transportation of harvested products and supplies.
• Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Required Skills

• Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in farm operations or agricultural labor.
• Proficiency in operating various farm machinery and equipment.
• Basic understanding of crop cycles, plant care, and common agricultural practices.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods in various weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, particularly during planting and harvest seasons.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Vocational training or certification in agriculture, heavy equipment operation, or a related field.
• Experience with precision agriculture technologies and GPS systems.
• Knowledge of local West Virginia agricultural conditions and specific crop requirements.
• Basic mechanical aptitude for minor equipment repairs.
