Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our compassionate dental care team in Portland, Maine. Key Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing procedures.
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as permitted by state regulations.
- Conduct initial patient screenings, including oral cancer screenings, head and neck exams, and periodontal charting.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary habits, and preventative care.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient records.
- Sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to infection control guidelines.
- Collaborate with dentists and other dental professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment.
Required Skills
- Current Dental Hygienist license in Maine (or eligibility for licensure).
- Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of dental hygiene.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to educate patients effectively on oral health practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate patient records.
- Commitment to patient safety and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- 2+ years of clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist.
- Experience with digital radiography and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- BLS/CPR certification.
- Fluency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic).
