Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our compassionate dental care team in Portland, Maine. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive preventative dental care, educating patients on oral hygiene, and collaborating with our dentists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing procedures.
• Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as permitted by state regulations.
• Conduct initial patient screenings, including oral cancer screenings, head and neck exams, and periodontal charting.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary habits, and preventative care.
• Document patient care services by charting in patient records.
• Sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to infection control guidelines.
• Collaborate with dentists and other dental professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment.

Required Skills

• Current Dental Hygienist license in Maine (or eligibility for licensure).
• Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of dental hygiene.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to educate patients effectively on oral health practices.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate patient records.
• Commitment to patient safety and adherence to infection control protocols.
• Eligibility for visa sponsorship in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
• 2+ years of clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist.
• Experience with digital radiography and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• BLS/CPR certification.
• Fluency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic).
