Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Equal Opportunity Specialist to join our Human Resources team in Plano, Texas. This critical role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local equal employment opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations. The specialist will play a key role in promoting a culture of fairness and respect through investigations, training, policy development, and proactive initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional judgment, and a proven ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into EEO, harassment, and discrimination complaints.
- Prepare detailed investigative reports, findings, and recommendations for resolution.
- Develop and deliver engaging EEO, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training programs to employees and management.
- Provide expert guidance and consultation to HR business partners and leadership on EEO best practices, policies, and legal compliance.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of affirmative action plans (AAPs) and related EEO programs.
- Stay current with evolving EEO laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure continuous compliance.
- Collaborate with legal counsel, HR, and other stakeholders to address EEO-related matters.
- Maintain meticulous records of investigations, trainings, and compliance activities.
- Support broader DEI initiatives and programs within the organization.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in EEO, HR compliance, or employee relations, with a focus on investigations.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EEO laws, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, and relevant state statutes.
- Proven experience in conducting sensitive and complex workplace investigations from intake to resolution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in all situations.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD).
- Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
- Experience working within a large, multi-state corporate environment.
- Familiarity with federal contractor compliance requirements (OFCCP).
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish).
