Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Epidemiologist to join our esteemed Public Health and Epidemiology team within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. This is a unique opportunity for an international candidate to contribute to critical research projects impacting global health, with full visa sponsorship provided. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, executing, and analysing epidemiological studies, contributing to evidence-based public health interventions and policy. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement epidemiological studies, including protocol development, data collection strategies, and statistical analysis plans.
- Conduct advanced statistical analysis of complex health datasets using appropriate software (e.g., R, Stata, SAS).
- Interpret and disseminate research findings through high-quality scientific publications, reports, and presentations at national and international conferences.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including clinicians, statisticians, public health specialists, and policymakers, to foster a collaborative research environment.
- Contribute to grant applications and secure external research funding to expand our research portfolio.
- Mentor junior researchers and students in epidemiological methods, fostering their development and growth.
- Stay abreast of current epidemiological literature, methodologies, and public health trends to ensure cutting-edge research practices.
- Ensure ethical conduct and data governance standards are maintained throughout all research activities, adhering to institutional and national guidelines.
Required Skills
- PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral or equivalent professional experience in epidemiology.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and conducting observational and interventional epidemiological studies.
- Strong proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, SAS) and advanced statistical methodologies.
- Proven track record of publishing research in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, suitable for diverse academic and non-academic audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale administrative health datasets or cohort studies.
- Knowledge of advanced epidemiological methods suchs as causal inference, Mendelian randomisation, or spatial epidemiology.
- Experience in grant writing and successful acquisition of research funding.
- Teaching or lecturing experience at the university level.
- Experience supervising research students or junior staff.
