Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Environmental Engineer to join our dynamic team in Edinburgh. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of environmental projects, focusing on delivering sustainable solutions for our clients. The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of project delivery, from initial assessment and design through to implementation and monitoring, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental impact assessments, risk assessments, and feasibility studies for various infrastructure and development projects.
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans, ensuring compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
  • Perform site investigations, data collection, and analysis, including soil, water, and air quality sampling.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, planners, and scientists, to integrate environmental considerations into project designs.
  • Provide expert environmental advice and support to clients throughout project lifecycles.
  • Stay updated with emerging environmental legislation, technologies, and best practices.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with an environmental focus, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in environmental consulting or a related industry.
  • Demonstrable experience with environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and policy frameworks.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving license or willingness to obtain one, for site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant environmental discipline.
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM, ICE).
  • Experience with contaminated land assessment and remediation strategies.
  • Familiarity with GIS software for environmental data mapping and analysis.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in water resource management or waste management projects.
