Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Energy Program Specialist to join our innovative team in Grand Rapids, MI. This role is crucial in developing, managing, and implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy programs designed to benefit our customers and advance our clean energy goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and program management best practices, with a passion for driving sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and manage energy efficiency, demand-side management, or renewable energy programs from inception to completion.
- Monitor program performance, analyze data, and prepare comprehensive reports on program effectiveness, market trends, and customer engagement.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, engineering, regulatory affairs, and customer service, to ensure program alignment and success.
- Engage with residential, commercial, and industrial customers to promote program participation and provide technical assistance.
- Ensure all programs comply with state and federal regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Manage program budgets, forecasts, and vendor relationships to optimize resource utilization and achieve financial targets.
- Conduct research on emerging energy technologies, best practices, and policy developments to inform program innovation.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory bodies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Energy Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in energy program management, energy efficiency, or renewable energy development.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, including proficiency with data analysis tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of energy utility operations, regulatory environments, and energy policy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar.
- Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems and program tracking software.
- Familiarity with Michigan's energy market and specific state energy regulations.
- Experience in developing and managing marketing campaigns for energy programs.
