Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and driven Electrical Engineering Interns to join our team in Gulfport, Mississippi. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of electrical engineering within a leading defense and shipbuilding company. You will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to real-world projects that support the design, development, and testing of complex electrical systems. This role is designed to provide practical exposure to engineering principles, project management, and cross-functional team collaboration, preparing you for a successful career in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers in the design, analysis, and testing of electrical systems and components.
  • Conduct research and gather data to support engineering projects and design specifications.
  • Perform calculations and simulations to validate design concepts and troubleshoot issues.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Support laboratory experiments and field testing of electrical equipment.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including mechanical, software, and systems engineers.
  • Learn and apply industry standards, codes, and best practices in electrical engineering.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on technical challenges.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated interest in defense, shipbuilding, or heavy industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of sophomore or junior year coursework in Electrical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical) or electrical simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Previous experience with academic projects involving electrical system design or hardware implementation.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in an engineering environment.
