Job Description

Media24 is seeking a passionate and driven Editorial Intern to join our dynamic team in Brooklyn, Pretoria. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of digital and print media. You will work closely with experienced editors and journalists, contributing to various publications and learning the foundational skills necessary for a successful career in editorial content creation. Key Responsibilities

• Assist editors with content research, fact-checking, and verification to ensure accuracy and credibility.
• Draft, proofread, and edit articles, features, and other editorial content for grammar, style, and tone.
• Support content management systems by uploading, formatting, and scheduling articles for publication.
• Conduct interviews and gather information for stories and features as directed by senior editorial staff.
• Participate actively in editorial meetings, contributing fresh ideas and insights for new content initiatives.
• Learn and apply SEO best practices to optimize digital content for search engine visibility.
• Collaborate effectively with various departments, including design, marketing, and multimedia teams.

Required Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong research and fact-checking abilities with an eye for detail.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for current affairs, media, and storytelling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Media Studies, English, Communications, or a related field.
• Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of SEO principles and digital publishing trends.
• Previous experience with student publications, personal blogging, or relevant volunteer work.
