Job Description

Virginia Hospital Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Dietitian to join our dynamic healthcare team. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients, evaluating their dietary needs, medical history, and anthropometric data.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized medical nutrition therapy plans for patients with diverse health conditions.
• Provide evidence-based nutrition counseling and education to patients and their families on dietary modifications, food choices, and meal preparation.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to integrate nutrition care into overall patient treatment plans.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in electronic medical records, adhering to all hospital and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and professional development activities.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures related to nutrition care.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food Science, or a related field.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Eligible for or holding current licensure as a Dietitian in the state of Virginia upon hire.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian in an acute care or equivalent healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy for various disease states.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
• Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
• Specialty certification (e.g., CNSC, CDE, CSR) is a plus.
• Experience working with diverse patient populations and cultural sensitivities.
• Previous experience in a teaching hospital or academic medical center setting.
