Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic DevOps Intern to join our dynamic team in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced technology environment, contributing to the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of critical systems that power Shopify’s global commerce platform. You will work alongside experienced engineers, learning best practices in infrastructure as code, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), cloud operations, and system automation. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about technology and eager to kickstart their career in DevOps.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Learn to automate operational tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues under guidance.
- Contribute to documentation of infrastructure and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth and efficient software releases.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and tools to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Support incident response and participate in post-mortem analyses.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
- Familiarity with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
- Familiarity with version control systems, especially Git.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or personal projects related to system administration, networking, or cloud infrastructure.
- Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

- Basic knowledge of infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
