Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are sterile and readily available.
  • Assist the dentist proficiently during a variety of treatment procedures, including restorative, endodontic, oral surgery, and preventative care.
  • Take and develop high-quality dental radiographs (x-rays) following proper safety protocols.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment according to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
  • Provide patients with clear pre- and post-operative instructions, oral hygiene education, and answers to their questions.
  • Manage patient records, update medical histories, and ensure accurate and confidential documentation of all treatments.
  • Maintain inventory of dental supplies, monitor stock levels, and place orders as needed to ensure continuous operation.
  • Perform various laboratory duties such as pouring impressions, trimming models, and fabricating temporary crowns.
  • Ensure patient comfort throughout their visit and build positive rapport.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow as needed.

Required Skills

  • Valid Dental Assistant certification or licensure as required by Ohio state regulations.
  • Proven proficiency in dental radiography techniques and safety.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and chairside assisting procedures.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities with a patient-first approach.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented dental practice.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Understanding of infection control standards and universal precautions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Eaglesoft or similar dental practice management software.
  • Additional certifications such as Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), coronal polishing, or sealants.
  • Previous experience working in a multi-cultural or diverse patient environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
  • A minimum of two years of hands-on experience as a Dental Assistant.
