Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team in Vancouver. This role is crucial for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our critical database systems that underpin our various products and services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server and a strong understanding of database best practices, cloud-based database solutions (Azure SQL), and data security. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of our databases, from design and implementation to maintenance, tuning, and troubleshooting. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and related applications.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimization.
• Manage database security, including user access, roles, and compliance.
• Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies.
• Perform database capacity planning and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Implement and manage high-availability solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups).
• Automate routine database tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL).
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient database design and query optimization.
• Provide expert guidance and support for database-related issues.
• Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.

Required Skills

• Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and newer).
• Strong understanding of T-SQL for query optimization and scripting.
• Experience with database performance tuning and monitoring tools.
• Proficiency in backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Familiarity with high-availability and disaster recovery technologies (e.g., AlwaysOn, replication).
• Solid knowledge of database security best practices.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting for database automation.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or other cloud database platforms.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
• Knowledge of other database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Experience with DevOps principles and tools for database deployments.
• Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
