Job Description
MTN Nigeria is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Data Scientist with a strong focus on Machine Learning to join our innovative analytics team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and deploying advanced machine learning models to extract actionable insights from vast datasets, driving strategic business decisions across various functions including network optimization, customer experience, marketing, and fraud detection. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems and contribute to our continuous growth and leadership in the telecommunications sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and algorithms for various business applications.
- Perform extensive data exploration, cleaning, and feature engineering to prepare data for model building.
- Evaluate model performance, fine-tune algorithms, and ensure robust deployment in production environments.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven solutions.
- Communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in machine learning, AI, and data science.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data science practices and tools within the organization.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python and relevant ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms (e.g., supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning).
- Experience with SQL and working with large relational and non-relational databases.
- Solid statistical knowledge and ability to apply statistical methods to data analysis.
- Excellent data manipulation and visualization skills.
- Problem-solving aptitude and strong analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
