Job Description

Associated Bank is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Data Privacy Officer to join our compliance team in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This critical role involves overseeing the bank’s data privacy strategy and ensuring adherence to all applicable data protection laws and regulations, including CCPA, GLBA, and other state and federal privacy statutes. The Data Privacy Officer will be instrumental in shaping our privacy framework, managing privacy risks, and promoting a culture of privacy across the institution. This is an on-site position requiring full-time presence at our Green Bay headquarters to facilitate close collaboration with various departments and direct oversight of privacy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the bank's data privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with local, national, and international data protection laws.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data privacy inquiries from employees, customers, regulators, and third parties.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for new projects, systems, and vendors.
  • Manage and respond to data subject requests (e.g., access, rectification, erasure).
  • Oversee data privacy incident response planning and execution, including breach notification procedures.
  • Provide regular training and awareness programs to employees on data privacy best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor changes in data privacy laws and regulations and ensure the bank's ongoing compliance.
  • Collaborate with legal, IT, information security, and business units to integrate privacy by design principles into all operations.
  • Maintain records of all data processing activities and ensure proper documentation for compliance audits.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Data Privacy Officer, Privacy Counsel, or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of global and US data protection laws and regulations (e.g., CCPA, GLBA, GDPR, HIPAA, State Privacy Laws).
  • Strong understanding of data security principles and privacy-enhancing technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex privacy concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant privacy certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Experience with international data transfers and cross-border privacy regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex privacy projects and initiatives.
