Job Description

Interswitch is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer with strong expertise in ETL processes to join our dynamic data team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures that support our analytical, reporting, and operational needs. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other engineering teams to ensure data quality, accessibility, and reliability, contributing directly to our mission of advancing digital payment solutions across Africa. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable ETL processes using various data integration tools and programming languages.
• Build and optimize data pipelines from various sources (relational databases, APIs, flat files) into data warehouses and data lakes.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data pipelines and storage solutions.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data requirements and provide efficient data access.
• Monitor data pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions for continuous improvement.
• Document data flows, ETL processes, and database schemas.
• Participate in data model design and database schema development.
• Implement data governance policies and best practices.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
• Strong experience with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, SSIS, Glue).
• Expertise in at least one scripting/programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
• Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling techniques (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience in the financial services or FinTech industry.
• Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data pipelines.
• Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
• Certifications in relevant cloud data platforms.
