Job Description
M&T Bank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect to join our dynamic Technology team in Buffalo, New York. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our enterprise data architecture, ensuring robust, scalable, and secure data solutions. You will work closely with various business units and technical teams to translate business requirements into technical data strategies, models, and systems. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise data architecture strategies, standards, and blueprints.
- Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for various data initiatives.
- Evaluate and recommend new data technologies, tools, and platforms to enhance data capabilities.
- Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and business analysts to ensure data solutions align with business objectives.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across all data systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data teams.

- Participate in project planning, resource estimation, and risk assessment related to data architecture.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of enterprise data warehousing, data lakes, and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift).
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database design (relational and NoSQL).
- Experience with data integration tools and ETL/ELT processes.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into technical data solutions.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
