Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cryptologist to join our advanced research and development team in Liverpool. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and analyzing cryptographic systems and protocols to safeguard sensitive information and ensure secure communication channels for our advanced defense and security solutions. You will work on cutting-edge projects, contributing to the development of robust security architectures that protect national interests against evolving cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop new cryptographic algorithms and protocols.
- Analyze existing cryptographic systems for vulnerabilities and propose robust countermeasures.
- Implement cryptographic solutions in various software and hardware environments.
- Collaborate with security architects and engineers to integrate cryptographic components into larger systems.
- Conduct security evaluations and penetration testing of cryptographic implementations.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in cryptography, quantum computing, and related security fields.
- Document cryptographic designs, analyses, and implementation details.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on cryptographic best practices to internal teams and stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in Cryptography.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in cryptography research, design, or implementation.
- Profound understanding of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, hash functions, digital signatures, and key exchange protocols.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java, with experience in secure coding practices.
- Familiarity with cryptographic libraries and tools (e.g., OpenSSL, Libsodium).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms and research.
- Knowledge of hardware security modules (HSMs) and secure element technologies.
- Experience in formal verification of cryptographic protocols.
- Publications in peer-reviewed cryptography conferences or journals.
- Security clearances or eligibility to obtain one.
