Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Crop Technician to join our agricultural operations team in Houston, TX. This role is essential for supporting our research and development initiatives, ensuring the health and productivity of various crops, and contributing to sustainable agricultural practices. The Crop Technician will be involved in all stages of crop management, from planting and nurturing to harvesting and data collection, working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute planting, cultivating, and harvesting activities for various crop types according to established protocols.
  • Monitor crop health, identify pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies, and report findings to supervisors.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of farm equipment and machinery, including tractors, planters, and sprayers.
  • Apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers safely and accurately, adhering to all safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Collect and record precise data on crop growth, yield, soil conditions, and environmental factors.
  • Perform general field maintenance, including irrigation management, weed control, and equipment cleaning.
  • Assist with inventory management of seeds, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and agricultural best practices.
  • Provide support for experimental trials and research projects as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in agricultural field work or related roles.
  • Basic understanding of crop science, plant physiology, and soil health.
  • Ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on farm machinery.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • Experience with precision agriculture technologies (GPS, mapping software).
  • Pesticide applicator certification.
  • Forklift operation experience.
