Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Court Security Officer to maintain a safe and secure environment within court facilities in New Orleans, LA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the orderly conduct of court proceedings, protecting judicial staff, attorneys, and the public, and enforcing security protocols. This role requires excellent observational skills, a calm demeanor under pressure, and a strong commitment to public safety and justice.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor courtrooms, entry points, and surrounding areas to prevent unauthorized access and maintain order.
• Conduct security screenings of individuals entering the courthouse using magnetometers, X-ray machines, and physical searches as needed.
• Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and security breaches within the court facility.
• Provide protection for judges, court personnel, jurors, and visitors.
• Escort prisoners within the courthouse and ensure their secure custody.
• Enforce all court rules, regulations, and security policies.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate daily logs.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and court officials as necessary.
• Provide assistance and directions to the public while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.

Required Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary state and local security licenses and certifications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
• Proficiency in using security equipment (e.g., metal detectors, X-ray machines).
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk patrols, and respond to emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Prior experience in court security, correctional facilities, or a similar environment.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• De-escalation and conflict resolution training.
• Familiarity with the judicial process and court procedures.
