Job Description
King & Spalding is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Court Administrator to join our legal support team in Atlanta, GA. The Court Administrator will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of legal proceedings and case management. This position requires a professional with exceptional administrative skills, a strong understanding of court procedures, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, discreet, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, contributing significantly to our firm’s commitment to delivering superior legal services.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain court dockets, calendars, and schedules for assigned cases.
- Prepare and process legal documents, filings, and correspondence in accordance with court rules and deadlines.
- Coordinate and schedule hearings, depositions, and meetings for attorneys and court personnel.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for external parties, including court officials, opposing counsel, and clients.
- Assist with jury management, including summons preparation, juror communication, and record-keeping.
- Oversee the proper storage and retrieval of case files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Facilitate the smooth flow of information between judicial officers, legal teams, and administrative staff.
- Maintain detailed records of court proceedings, orders, and judgments.
- Provide administrative support to legal teams as needed, including research assistance and document preparation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant court rules, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in court administration or a similar legal support role.
- Proficiency in legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local court rules and procedures.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification as a Professional Legal Secretary (PLS) or similar professional certification.
- Experience with e-filing systems in various jurisdictions.
- Knowledge of specific practice areas such as litigation or corporate law.
