Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Counterintelligence Agent to join our dedicated team in Leith, Edinburgh. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in protecting BAE Systems’ proprietary information, intellectual property, and national security interests from foreign intelligence services, cyber threats, and other adversaries. You will be responsible for conducting investigations, analyzing intelligence, and developing strategies to mitigate threats and safeguard our operations. This position requires exceptional analytical abilities, discretion, and a profound understanding of intelligence principles and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct counterintelligence investigations into suspicious activities and potential threats.
- Analyze complex intelligence data to identify patterns, vulnerabilities, and adversary intentions.
- Develop and implement counterintelligence strategies and protective measures.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and law enforcement partners on intelligence matters.
- Prepare detailed reports, briefings, and assessments for senior leadership.
- Provide counterintelligence awareness training to employees.
- Monitor and assess foreign intelligence threats targeting BAE Systems assets and personnel.
- Participate in surveillance and counter-surveillance operations as required.
- Maintain meticulous records and evidence in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years experience in counterintelligence, intelligence analysis, or a related national security field.
- Proven ability to conduct complex investigations and analytical assessments.
- Strong understanding of foreign intelligence services, their methods, and motivations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and briefing development.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Proficiency in intelligence analysis tools and databases.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a high-level UK security clearance.
- Strong ethical judgment and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in International Relations, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Intelligence Studies, or a related field.
- Experience working with government intelligence agencies or military intelligence units.
- Proficiency in one or more foreign languages relevant to intelligence operations (e.g., Russian, Mandarin, Arabic).
- Familiarity with cyber security principles and cyber counterintelligence techniques.
- Formal training in counterintelligence operations or advanced investigative techniques.
