Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Analyst to join our Public Sector consulting team in Coventry. This role is pivotal in providing expert financial analysis and cost modelling support to our public sector clients, helping them optimize resource allocation, achieve value for money, and make informed strategic decisions. The successful candidate will work on challenging projects, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver impactful insights and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed cost analysis, financial modeling, and forecasting for public sector projects and initiatives.
• Develop and implement robust cost allocation methodologies and frameworks.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements within client operations.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations detailing financial findings and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Support the development of business cases and financial appraisals for new public sector investments and policy changes.
• Collaborate with clients to gather financial data, understand operational processes, and validate cost assumptions.
• Stay abreast of public sector financial regulations, policies, and best practices.
• Contribute to proposals and business development activities related to cost management in the public sector.

Required Skills

• Proven experience in financial analysis, cost accounting, or management accounting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., advanced Excel, Power BI).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated understanding of public sector financial frameworks and reporting requirements.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
• Experience with specific public sector accounting software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Previous consulting experience, particularly within the public sector.
• Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
