Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Control Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in Quebec City. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and optimization of complex control systems for various industrial applications. You will work on challenging projects, from concept to commissioning, ensuring the delivery of high-performance, reliable, and safe automation solutions. This position requires a strong technical background in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, and industrial networking. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement control system architectures, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial networks.
  • Develop and program PLC logic (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000) and HMI/SCADA applications.
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to define project requirements and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including functional specifications, design documents, and test procedures.
  • Provide technical support and training to clients and operational teams.
  • Participate in site commissioning, start-up, and optimization of control systems.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in industrial automation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in control systems design and implementation.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, or equivalent).
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA system development and configuration.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP).
  • Knowledge of control theory and process automation principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Canada or eligibility for licensure.
  • Bilingualism in French and English.
  • Experience with industrial cybersecurity best practices.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, IEC 61511).
  • Experience in specific industrial sectors such as manufacturing, energy, water/wastewater, or mining.
