Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contracts Manager to join our dynamic team in Oakland, California. This vital role involves overseeing all aspects of contract management, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and supporting our diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full contract lifecycle, from negotiation through closeout, working closely with legal, project, and finance teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of contracts, including drafting, negotiation, execution, and administration, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to project teams on contractual matters, obligations, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of contract terms and conditions, identifying potential risks and proposing solutions.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel on complex contractual issues and disputes.
  • Oversee change orders, claims, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping and documentation for all contractual agreements.
  • Support the procurement team in vendor selection and contract finalization.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on contract management principles and processes.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in contracts management, preferably within the engineering, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of contract law principles and commercial terms.
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and administration.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Certification in Contract Management (e.g., CCCM, CFCM).
  • Experience with international contracts and diverse legal jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, or other standard contract forms.
  • Prior experience with visa sponsorship processes for international talent.
