Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Content Moderator – Trust & Safety Specialist to join our remote team, based in Manchester, UK. In this critical role, you will be responsible for reviewing user-generated content, enforcing our community guidelines, and making swift, accurate decisions to ensure a safe and positive experience for all TikTok users. This position requires excellent judgment, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You will play a vital role in protecting our community and upholding the integrity of our platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Review user-generated content (videos, comments, profiles) across various queues to ensure compliance with TikTok's community guidelines and policies.
- Make accurate, timely, and consistent content moderation decisions based on comprehensive guidelines.
- Identify and escalate complex or ambiguous content issues to senior team members or relevant departments.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of content policies, moderation processes, and training materials.
- Stay informed about emerging online safety trends, content risks, and policy updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including policy, product, and legal, to address platform safety challenges.
- Provide constructive feedback to enhance machine learning models and automation tools used in content moderation.
Required Skills
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential.
- Proven experience in content moderation, trust & safety, or a related field, preferably within a social media or online platform environment.
- Strong understanding of online content policies, community guidelines, and user safety principles.
- Exceptional decision-making skills with the ability to remain objective and consistent under pressure.
- High level of empathy and cultural sensitivity to understand diverse user perspectives.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Criminology, Law, Communications, Psychology).
- Familiarity with content management systems and moderation tools.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting on content trends.
- Proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
