Job Description
Kiewit is seeking motivated and reliable Construction Helpers for immediate full-time employment in Anchorage, Alaska. This entry-level position is crucial to our construction operations, providing essential support to skilled tradespeople and ensuring job site efficiency and safety. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess a strong work ethic, and be able to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) with various tasks.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from work areas.
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning debris, setting up safety barriers, and organizing tools.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
- Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth.
- Remove hazardous materials safely and dispose of waste properly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning up spills and keeping tools in good condition.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other laboring duties as assigned by supervisors or foremen.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform strenuous physical tasks for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site in Anchorage, Alaska.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience on a construction site is a plus, but not required.
- Valid driver's license.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
