Job Description
Turner Construction Company is seeking a motivated and reliable Construction General Laborer to join our dynamic team in Pittsburgh, PA. This is an immediate start position for individuals eager to contribute to significant construction projects and grow their careers in the industry. As a General Laborer, you will perform a variety of essential tasks supporting various trades on job sites, ensuring projects proceed smoothly and safely. We are looking for individuals who are physically capable, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding our high safety standards. This is an on-site position based in Pittsburgh, PA.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, electricians, masons, etc.) with various tasks.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment onto and off of trucks and into work areas.
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning debris, trash, and hazardous materials.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth.
- Set up and tear down temporary structures, scaffolding, and barricades.
- Perform general clean-up of construction sites, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with the demolition of structures or parts of structures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the site supervisor or foreman.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety procedures.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Team-oriented attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a construction or manual labor role.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
