Job Description
Join Kiewit, a leader in the construction industry, as a Construction Flagger / Traffic Control Person. This essential role is critical to maintaining a safe work environment for our crews and the public. You will be responsible for directing traffic, pedestrians, and equipment around active construction zones, ensuring smooth flow and preventing accidents. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and effectively direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction sites using signs, flags, and hand signals.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with drivers, pedestrians, and construction crew members.
- Set up and maintain traffic control zones, including placing cones, barrels, and signage in accordance with safety standards and traffic plans.
- Monitor traffic flow and adjust controls as necessary to ensure safety and minimize disruption.
- Remain alert and attentive at all times to potential hazards and changing conditions.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with other site duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of situational awareness and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety and ability to follow directions precisely.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in traffic control or construction.
- Familiarity with MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) guidelines.
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification.
