Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Conservation Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing park rules and regulations, protecting natural resources, educating visitors, and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all park patrons. This role involves patrolling park lands, responding to incidents, conducting investigations, and actively participating in conservation efforts across Hamilton County Parks.

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol designated park areas on foot, by vehicle, or other means to enforce park rules, regulations, and relevant state laws.
• Respond to emergencies, incidents, and complaints within park boundaries, providing first aid when necessary.
• Investigate violations, gather evidence, write detailed reports, and issue citations as required.
• Educate park visitors on responsible recreation, wildlife protection, and environmental stewardship.
• Assist with wildlife management programs, habitat restoration projects, and land conservation efforts.
• Participate in search and rescue operations, fire suppression, and other emergency services.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with park management, law enforcement agencies, and the public.
• Conduct regular inspections of park facilities and trails for safety hazards and report maintenance needs.
• Represent Hamilton County Parks at community events and educational programs.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal conservation laws and regulations.
• Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency in basic first aid and CPR.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate park vehicles.
• Physical fitness to perform duties including walking, hiking, and occasional strenuous activity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
• Previous experience in law enforcement, park ranger, or conservation enforcement.
• Certification in wildlife management or environmental education.
• Experience with GIS mapping software or related conservation technology.
• Familiarity with the flora and fauna of the Ohio region.
