Job Description

We are seeking a highly creative and skilled Concept Artist to join our innovative art team in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. In this role, you will be instrumental in visualizing and defining the look and feel of our next-generation game worlds, characters, and environments. You will work closely with Art Directors, Game Designers, and 3D Artists to translate high-level concepts into compelling visual designs that inspire and guide the production team. This is an exciting opportunity for an artist with a strong imagination and technical proficiency to contribute to a beloved franchise. Key Responsibilities

• Develop compelling concept art for characters, creatures, environments, props, and vehicles from initial sketches to polished illustrations.
• Collaborate with Art Directors and Game Designers to define the visual style and artistic vision for projects.
• Create detailed visual guides, mood boards, and storyboards to communicate artistic direction to the production team.
• Iterate rapidly on designs based on feedback from the development team.
• Maintain a high level of artistic quality and consistency throughout all concepts.
• Research and gather reference materials to inform and inspire designs.
• Actively participate in art reviews and contribute constructive criticism.

Required Skills

• Exceptional drawing, painting, and composition skills.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or equivalent digital painting tools.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, perspective, color theory, lighting, and material properties.
• Ability to adapt to various art styles and visual aesthetics.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of concept art abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Illustration, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in the video game industry.
• Familiarity with 3D software (e.g., Blender, Maya, ZBrush) for quick mock-ups or paintovers.
• Experience with animation principles and visual storytelling.
• Passion for video games and an understanding of current industry trends.
