Job Description
This internship offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in community development and non-profit operations within a vibrant team. The intern will support various projects aimed at empowering local communities, promoting human rights, and advocating for social justice in Bonny, Rivers State. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in the development sector and make a tangible impact at the grassroots level.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of community development projects.
- Conduct community outreach and engagement activities to identify needs, gather feedback, and ensure community participation.
- Support data collection, analysis, and report writing for project evaluations and donor reports.
- Contribute to the development of advocacy materials and awareness campaigns on key social issues.
- Participate actively in team meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
- Perform administrative and logistical tasks as required to support project activities and office operations.
Required Skills
- Strong interest in community development, human rights, or social justice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse community members.
- Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior volunteer experience with a non-profit organization or community-based initiatives.
- Familiarity with local communities and cultures in Rivers State, Nigeria.
- Knowledge of local languages (e.g., Igbo, Ijaw, Ogoni) spoken in Rivers State is a significant advantage.
- Enrollment in or recent graduate of a Bachelor's degree program in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.
