Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic City Manager to lead the overall operations and strategic growth of Whole Foods Market in Boulder, Colorado. This pivotal role involves overseeing multiple store locations within the Boulder area, ensuring consistent operational excellence, high customer satisfaction, and strong financial performance. The City Manager will be responsible for fostering a positive team culture, developing local talent, and ensuring that our stores remain integral parts of the Boulder community. You will be a champion for our brand values, driving initiatives that reinforce our commitment to quality, sustainability, and exceptional service. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operational performance of all Whole Foods Market stores within the designated city, ensuring adherence to company standards and policies.
  • Develop and implement local market strategies to drive sales, increase customer engagement, and improve profitability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Store Team Leaders and other key personnel, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Manage financial performance including P&L, budgeting, expense control, and inventory management across all assigned locations.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company safety and food quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local community organizations, suppliers, and customers.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Drive a superior customer experience by ensuring stores are well-merchandised, clean, and staffed with knowledgeable and friendly team members.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, training, and retention initiatives for the city's stores.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in multi-unit retail management, preferably in grocery or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage P&L, budgets, and financial performance across multiple locations.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and using metrics to drive business decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with natural and organic food retailing.
  • Fluency in a second language relevant to the local community.
  • Strong community engagement and public relations experience.
