Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Catering Manager to join our exceptional team at Hyatt Centric Chicago River North. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our catering services, from initial client consultation and event planning to flawless execution. The Catering Manager will drive sales, cultivate strong client relationships, and ensure an unparalleled guest experience for all catered events. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their needs and exceeding expectations for all events.
- Lead the sales process for catering services, including prospecting, presenting proposals, negotiating contracts, and closing deals.
- Coordinate all logistical aspects of events, working closely with culinary, banquet, and other hotel departments.
- Prepare detailed event orders (BEOs) and communicate specifications to relevant teams.
- Manage event budgets, track expenses, and ensure profitability targets are met.
- Conduct site visits and menu tastings with clients.
- Oversee event setup, execution, and breakdown to ensure seamless operations.
- Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify new business opportunities and service enhancements.
- Train and mentor catering team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients before, during, and after events.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in catering sales or management within a hotel or high-volume event venue.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in catering software (e.g., Delphi, Opera) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure.
- Deep understanding of food and beverage operations, menu planning, and event logistics.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is a plus.
