Job Description
Pomerleau is seeking skilled and experienced Carpenters to join our dynamic construction teams in Quebec City. This is an excellent opportunity for dedicated professionals looking to build a career in Canada, as we are offering visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from framing and finishing to precise measurements and installations, contributing significantly to the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of our diverse projects. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes and other regulations.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
- Build and repair wooden structures and fixtures such as walls, floors, ceilings, and doorframes.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Supervise apprentices and other construction workers as required.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and site regulations.
Required Skills
- Journeyman Carpenter certification or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience in carpentry.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and construction methods.
- Excellent mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial or large-scale residential projects.
- Certification in construction safety (e.g., Working at Heights, WHMIS).
- Basic proficiency in French (an asset in Quebec).
- Experience supervising junior carpenters or apprentices.
