Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Support resident mobility, transfers, and ambulation using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive conditions to the nursing team.
- Administer medication under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) as per scope of practice and training.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment for residents.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration.
- Engage residents in social activities and promote their independence and well-being.
- Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, their families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a caregiving role (e.g., as a caregiver, personal support worker, or health care aide).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong empathy, patience, and compassion for seniors.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications
- Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with residents with dementia or other complex health needs.
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to our diverse resident population.
- Knowledge of provincial healthcare regulations and standards.
