Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Care Workers to join our team at Extendicare Parkside in Saskatoon. Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Support resident mobility, transfers, and ambulation using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in residents' health, and report any concerns to the nursing staff.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, promoting social interaction and engagement.
- Assist with meal service and ensure residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Participate in care planning and team meetings to ensure integrated and comprehensive resident care.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Care Worker, Personal Support Worker (PSW), or similar role.
- Strong understanding of person-centred care principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and transferring residents.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma from an accredited Personal Support Worker (PSW) or healthcare aide program.
- Experience working in a long-term care facility.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in additional languages.
