Job Description
Raley’s is seeking a skilled and passionate Butcher to join our team in Sacramento, CA. As a Butcher, you will be responsible for preparing and cutting various meat products, ensuring high standards of hygiene, quality, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and store meat products according to company standards and food safety regulations.
- Cut, trim, bone, and grind various types of meat (beef, pork, poultry) into retail portions.
- Prepare specialty cuts and custom orders for customers as requested.
- Operate and maintain meat cutting equipment safely and efficiently, including saws, grinders, and slicers.
- Ensure proper product rotation, labeling, and display in the meat department.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies to minimize waste and ensure product availability.
- Adhere to strict sanitation and hygiene standards for personal cleanliness, equipment, and work areas.
- Provide excellent customer service, offering product recommendations and cooking advice.
- Assist with training new team members on meat preparation techniques and safety protocols.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those related to food safety and occupational health.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a butcher, meat cutter, or similar role.
- Proficiency in cutting and preparing various types of meat.
- Strong knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques, and culinary applications.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (HACCP, USDA standards).
- Ability to operate and maintain meat cutting equipment safely.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
