Job Description

We are seeking a talented and driven Building Services Engineer to join our growing team in Sunderland. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed mechanical and electrical building services design, calculations, and simulations.
• Prepare technical specifications, reports, and drawings using industry-standard software.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders to integrate building services systems.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections, and commissioning activities to ensure design compliance and quality.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, adhering to quality standards and client requirements.
• Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and relevant UK building regulations and standards (e.g., CIBSE, British Standards).
• Participate in client meetings, present design proposals, and offer technical advice.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in building services design within a consultancy or contractor environment.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, IES VE, or Hevacomp.
• Strong understanding of UK building regulations, CIBSE guides, and British Standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Working towards or already achieved Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized professional institution.
• Experience with sustainable design principles and low-carbon technologies.
• Knowledge of energy modelling and thermal simulation software.
• Experience in various project sectors, including commercial, residential, education, and healthcare.
