Job Description
The Box Office Assistant plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of ticket sales and patron services for all events at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. This position is the primary point of contact for patrons, offering assistance with ticket purchases, inquiries, and general event information. The ideal candidate will be friendly, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, contributing to a welcoming and efficient experience for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Process ticket sales, exchanges, and refunds accurately using computerized ticketing systems.
- Provide detailed information about events, seating, pricing, and venue policies to patrons.
- Handle cash, credit card, and other payment transactions with precision and responsibility.
- Resolve patron issues, inquiries, and complaints professionally and efficiently, escalating as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure box office environment.
- Assist with the distribution of 'Will Call' tickets prior to performances.
- Collaborate effectively with other venue staff, including ushers, concessions, and security, to ensure a seamless patron experience.
- Contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors to the Center.
Required Skills
- Proven customer service experience, preferably in a public-facing role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and ability to quickly learn new software and ticketing platforms.
- Strong cash handling and reconciliation abilities with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a box office, ticketing, or entertainment venue environment.
- Familiarity with Tessitura or other industry-standard ticketing software.
- Knowledge of performing arts genres and the local arts scene.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish) is a plus.
