Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Biotechnologist to join our innovative team in Belfast. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in a leading global CDMO. The successful candidate will be involved in the design, execution, and analysis of laboratory experiments, playing a crucial role in our drug development projects. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute complex laboratory experiments using various biotechnological techniques.
- Perform cell culture, molecular biology, protein purification, and analytical assays.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare detailed reports and presentations.
- Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including chemists, biologists, and project managers.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of new assays and experimental protocols.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control procedures, safety regulations, and good laboratory practices (GLP/GMP where applicable).
- Stay current with scientific literature and industry trends in biotechnology.
Required Skills
- PhD or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on laboratory experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting (post-degree).
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques and mammalian cell culture.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, cloning, gene expression).
- Demonstrated experience in protein expression, purification, and characterization.
- Familiarity with various analytical techniques (e.g., SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA, HPLC).
- Excellent data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced cell-based assays or high-throughput screening.
- Knowledge of bioprocess development or scale-up.
- Experience working in a GLP/GMP regulated environment.
- Track record of scientific publications or conference presentations.
