Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Aviation Safety Inspector to join our dedicated team in Birmingham, West Midlands. This critical role ensures the highest standards of safety and compliance across our aerospace operations, contributing directly to the integrity and reliability of our products and services. The successful candidate will conduct thorough inspections, audits, and investigations, ensuring adherence to national and international aviation safety regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and unannounced inspections of aircraft, components, facilities, and operational procedures to ensure compliance with aviation safety regulations (e.g., EASA, CAA, FAA).
- Perform root cause analysis for safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, developing corrective and preventative action plans.
- Audit internal safety management systems (SMS) and quality control processes, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring effective implementation.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, audit findings, and investigation summaries, maintaining accurate and comprehensive documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and flight operations teams to provide expert guidance on safety standards and best practices.
- Monitor changes in aviation regulations and industry standards, ensuring company policies and procedures are updated accordingly.
- Deliver safety briefings and training sessions to staff, promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Participate in safety committees and review boards, contributing to strategic safety initiatives.
Required Skills
- Extensive knowledge of aviation safety regulations (e.g., EASA Part 145, Part 21, Part M, ICAO Annex 19).
- Proven experience in aviation safety management systems (SMS) implementation and auditing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough investigations and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for report writing, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in using industry-standard safety management software and tools.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel domestically and potentially internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Management, Safety Management, or a related field.
- Certified Lead Auditor qualification (e.g., ISO 9001, AS/EN 9100).
- Previous experience as an Aviation Safety Officer or Inspector with an airline, MRO, or regulatory body.
- Knowledge of specific Rolls-Royce engine types or aerospace products.
- Fluency in an additional language relevant to international operations.
